• Graphics:I don’t want to include the graphicx package every time I use images. This functionality should be loaded automatically, because most of the larger LaTeX documents need it. Additionally the \includegraphics is too long. I would like to have it shorter like \image or \graphic.
• Package pollution:Often there are packages which basically offer the same functionality, but some of them are outdated (like subfig, subfigure, subcaption). The old packages should be removed from repository and replaced by the new ones. This requires obviously maintaining, which could be done by vote of the community or mailing list.
• Variables:As far as I know, LaTeX does not provide plain variables. There are counters, lengths and commands – and symbols in TeX (introduced by \def). I like to make something like \newint{\foo}{3} or even \newconst{\BAR}{3.14} or \newreal{\baz}{42.0}.
• Unflexible scopes: Commands sometimes require access to the same counter/length/subcommand and therefore the resource has to be in global scope. But often I only need temporary or local counters, which should be undefined after using them. This would require some sort of scope ending either automatically (\newtempcounter{} is only usable until next closing } ) or manually by using a command like \undefinecounter{}
• Command arguments:Sometimes I forget to provide the argument for a command. Instead of just using the next character (as LaTeX does it) there should be a warning. Additionally I would like the \newcommand to be more flexible about optional arguments: There should be a difference in \foo[]{} and \foo{} and \bar[]{}[]{} should be easily possible.
• Cryptic error messages: I often google around for hours before I finally find the solution for an error message LaTeX threw at me (and usually still not getting what it meant). Error should be helpful…

1. check all IMAP folders

   I have many folders within my mail accounts and filters set to sort the tons of e-mails I get. But Thunderbird only checks the inbox folder for new e-mails. So here is the setting you need to change to have all subfolders checked: mail.check_all_imap_folders_for_new You will find it in the about:config, which can be reached by Edit→Settings→Advanced

2. disable one letter shortkeys

   Many times it happened to me that I accidently pressed a letter inside the Thunderbird window, which led to some unexpected results (for example e-mails disappeared and after weeks of searching I found them in the archive). There is an extension to customize shortkeys in Thunderbird called keyconfig, which can be found here
